The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) under its North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) has approved an amount Rs.2853 lakhs on April 20, 2022 for ‘Upgradation of Longnak-Mangkolemba road’. The project was approved with a scheduled completion date as April 30, 2024.

The 11km long Longnak-Mangkolemba road was reportedly last repaired in 1986. The road connects the Mangkolemba town, which is also the sub-divisional ADC headquarters, with the Mariani-Mokokchung road (NH 702D). Mangkolemba sub-divisional headquarters serves Tzürangkong, Japukong and Jangpetkong ranges under Mokokchung district and covers two Assembly constituencies, Alongtaki and Jangpetkong, which are currently represented by ruling BJP legislators Temjen Imna Along and Dr Longrineken, respectively.

It may be mentioned that 17 projects worth Rs. 333.62 crore have been approved for Nagaland under NESIDS since 2019 as per information on the official NESIDS website.
