Mokokchung, December 14 (MTNews): Nagaland Minister of Rural Development, Metsübo Jamir on Wednesday said that the Uniform Civil Code bill, which has been introduced in the parliament, might get passed.

 

 

Nagaland RD Minister, Metsübo Jamir inaugurated the Mokokchung Town Longsa Senso Telongjem building ‘Yim Ki’ located at Arkong ward, Mokokchung on December 14.

 

 

Expressing his apprehension, Jamir said that if the bill becomes an Act of the parliament, then the Uniform Civil Code would be detrimental to “our faith, our customary law and Naga way of life.” He stated that the UCC bill must be thoroughly scrutinized and that the people must voice out against it.

 

Jamir said this while speaking at the inauguration of ‘Yim Ki’, a building built and owned by Mokokchung Town Longsa Senso Telongjem (MTLST), located at Arkong Ward, Mokokchung. The dedicatory prayer for the new building was pronounced by Rev Supongchiten Pongen, Pastor, Longsa Baptist Church.
