Kohima, January 25 (MTNews): Model Christian College observed International Day of Education on January 24 at the College Auditorium under the theme, “To Invest in People, Prioritize Education.”

 

The program was moderated by Mrs Jamkhanmoi, Asst Professor, Education Department, followed by a welcome note by Ms. Peteneino Kiso, Head of Education Department, Model Christian College. Dr Zavise Rume, Professor and Head, Guidance and Counseling Psychology, Education Research of Nagaland was the resource person.

Dr Zavise in his speech remarked that the approach of the present education system is towards pragmatism. He said India is getting ready to supply skilled labor to the world and has a potential to become ‘knowledge super-power’ of the world.

The new education policy not only focuses on cognitive learning but also on mind training, mental health, career guidance, which in turn, he said, will result in fuller personality development.

The department also conducted an essay competition on the topic ‘Changing Course, Transforming Education’ and the prizes for the competition were given away during the event.

The 1st place was bagged by Reluilungle of BA 2nd semester. Pangnon Konyak of BA 6th semester won the second position and B Sweety of BA 4th semester won the third position.
