Tuensang, February 11(MTNews): Following the widespread criticism it received for using a Christian song during an election campaign in 53 Tuensang Sardar-I, the Bharatiya Janata Party, 53 Tuensang Sardar I, on Saturday, issued a public apology for hurting religious sentiments of the Christian community.

 

In a press release, the party expressed “deep regret, shame and remorse” and said the party never intended to blaspheme against Jesus Christ or any other religion and accepted their mistake as “total ignorance and unawareness of the party workers which has resulted in such a misdemeanor” and asked forgiveness from God.

 

Further, the 53 Tuensang Sardar-I BJP unit said that the incident was an “eye opener in edifying our faith and also making our Naga believers to be more careful and vigilant in future.”
