Mokokchung, February 24 (MTNews): The Ao Senden while expressing utter shock at the report of alleged abduction and coldblooded murder of Imkongjeba Kichu of Chungtia village, whose lifeless body was found on February 23, 2023, has strongly condemned the heinous crime. Ao Senden on Friday said that the whole Ao community is troubled by the tragic loss of life of the promising Ao youth.
Further, Ao Senden stated that resorting to violence while supporting a candidate during the Nagaland assembly election and going to the extent of committing the abominable act of mercilessly taking a precious life, which is diametrically opposed to Ao customary ethos, “has brazenly exposed our barbarous nature in front of the world for which we are mortified.” The apex body also added that all true Ao citizens by blood bow their heads in shame.
Ao Senden further demanded that the competent authorities should immediately apprehend the culprits with such savage regressive mentality to commit murder and award exemplary punishment to the fullest extent of the law.
Meanwhile, Ao Senden also stated that the election will be over within a few days and made a clarion call that every Ao citizen should participate in the election most responsibly and honestly so that it does not cause degradation of the individual, the society and the state.
Watsü Mungdang condemns
The Watsü Mungdang has strongly condemned the recent heinous act of violence that occurred between New Camp and Satier under Mokokchung district.
The abduction and murder of Lt Imkongchiba Kichu by unknown miscreants with no cause can justify such brutality and senseless killing.
In a civilized society we must do everything we can to prevent such acts of senseless murder based in hatred. Prejudice does not get better.
“This is the worst degradation of Christian morality,” Watsü Mungdang said.
We urge the security forces and law enforcing authority to book the culprit at the earliest. We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family and pray that God gives them strength and guidance at this time of grief, pain and sorrow.
NLSF condemns
The Nagaland Law Students’ Federation (NLSF) has condemned the brutal murder of Lt. Imkongjeba Kichu on 22nd February 2023, who hailed from Chungtia village of Mokokchung district.
“The Federation learnt from the deceased family that Imkongjeba had left for a funeral at Chungtiayimsen on 20th February. The unfortunate incident happened while he was returning from the funeral with one of his friends. A gypsy blocked their road between Satier and New Camp. More people hiding behind bushes came and ambushed the vehicle and dragged the victim out of the car. Later, his dead body was found around 04:00 pm in the middle of a brook in a harmed, unrecognizable state with disturbed face, bruised, wounded, teeth shaky & fallen, skin torn and bruised. Major injuries on head and prominent marks in neck were also visible,” NLSF shared its account of the incident.
“The Federation is shocked that the life of a youthful member from Chungtia village was nipped in the bud by the evil action of the criminals, that too in broad daylight which is understandably a premeditated murder,” NLSF said, adding that such act of violence is purely a purging which is undesirable for a society like ours.
The Federation expected from the State Government to apprehend the perpetrators of the crime and they be brought to justice immediately.
