Dimapur, 11 April (MTNews): “Peaceful coexistence of people of different religions is the beauty of Dimapur,” said Advisor, Tribal Affairs and Election Department, H Tovihoto Ayemi. Speaking at the fast-breaking Iftar party organized by Muslim Youth Dimapur at Idgah Ground, Dimapur on Monday, Ayemi urged the people to be mindful to embrace the responsibility that falls upon all to protect and uphold peace and harmony of the society.
“Peace and harmony among people of different faiths and cultures is essential for healthy and progressive society,” he added.
He further pointed out that no religion preaches violence and that love and peace are central in every religion and, therefore, all must follow in true spirit for a peaceful society.
Besides lauding the initiative of Muslim Youth Dimapur for inviting people of different religions and cultural backgrounds in order to foster the spirit of brotherhood and unity, Tovihoto also appreciated the efforts of Muslim Youth for always being upfront to extend humanitarian services during crisis and in times of need such as Covid lockdown and fire outbreak in Dimapur.
“Serving humanity is serving God,” he added.
An official from the Muslim Youth Dimapur said the event which invited people of different religions was initiated to foster and promote peace, harmony and brotherhood of the people and added that the Muslim youth are committed towards the welfare of Dimapur.
Other speakers representing various other religious and cultural backgrounds stressed on the need for inter-religious harmony.
