Guwahati, 13 April (MTNews): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Guwahati, and launch development projects worth Rs 14,300 crore in Assam on Friday.

 

PM Modi will also launch three more hospitals in Assam on Friday.

 

According to an official statement, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of a bridge on the Brahmaputra River, connecting Palashbari and Sualkuchi, and also launch the beautification exercise of Rang Ghar, Sivasaga.

 

In addition to this, he will also lay the foundation stone of the Assam Advanced Health Care Innovation Institute (AAHII) and launch ‘Aapke Dwar Ayushman’ campaign by distributing Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) cards to eligible beneficiaries.

 

According to reports, AIIMS hospital has a capacity of 750 beds, including 30 AYUSH beds. The hospital, aimed at providing world-class health facilities to the people of Northeast, will have an annual intake capacity of 100 MBBS students every year.

 

“AIIMS in Guwahati will boost Assam’s health infrastructure and also help the entire Northeast. It will make quality healthcare even more accessible,” said PM Modi in a tweet.

 

The Executive Director of AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences), Guwahati, Prof (Dr) Ashok Puranik, said that the AIIMS would be a boon for the North East Region and that it would bridge the healthcare gap in the region.
