Chumoukedima, 13 April (MTNews): The much anticipated fresh round of talks was held between the central government’s mediator for Naga peace talks AK Mishra and the leadership of the NSCN-IM today at Rhododendron Hall, Chumoukedima police complex today.
The 20 member NSCN-IM delegation was led by general secretary Th. Muivah while the Centre was represented by AK Mishra and Joint Director, Intelligence Bureau, Dr Mandeep Singh.
The closed door meeting which started at 11:00 am lasted for around 2 hours.
Member of Collective Leadership of NSCN-IM, Rh. Raising said that the outcome of today’ s meeting was ‘positive’ and that they have agreed to seek a solution based on the Framework Agreement. The Centre and NSCN (IM), which had been in a ceasefire since 1997, signed the Framework Agreement in 2015.
Centre’s mediator for Naga peace also held a separate meeting in the evening on the peace issue with the working committee of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs), comprising at least seven different groups.
Mishra and Tulli arrived in Nagaland on Wednesday and are scheduled to leave for Delhi on Friday, officials said.
