The 4th Mokokchung Inter-School Badminton Championship 2023 culminated on Saturday at the Indoor Badminton Stadium Mokokchung. The 3-Day event organized by the Mokokchung district Badminton Association saw more than 135 participants from 14 schools. At the end of the final day, a total of 168+ matches were played with participants including 97 male players and 41 female players.

 

 

In a brief closing ceremony program, special guest Chumlamo Humtsoe, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung congratulated the MDBA for organizing such an event, which according to him is “one of a kind” in the state.

 

Seeing the number of participations from the district, the ADC hoped that that the NDBA will achieve their ‘2040 Vision’ and said that it’s heading in the right direction.

 

 

 

It may be recalled that the MDBA had set a target called ‘Vision 2040’ in which they had set to achieve the target of sending at least one player from Mokokchung to the Olympics.

 

Humtsoe further encouraged the parents to encourage their children/ward to play any kind of sports instead of spending their time on the screen.

 

He said that the rise in obesity around the world is caused majorly by being on the phone too much and hence one must participate in physical activities and take care of one’s health to make life more meaningful.

 

Town HSS Mokokchung was the winner of the team championship with JMS as the runner-up.
