Dimapur, 28 April (MTNews): The Department of Agriculture, Government of Nagaland held a one-day state-level workshop and awareness program on oil palm planting today in Dimapur.
Advisor Agriculture Mathung Yanthan stated at the event that the department will restart oil palm cultivation in the state because the state government has partnered with two implementing agencies, Godrej Agrovet Limited and Patanjali Foods Limited, to increase production.
Although the mission did not materialize earlier due to a variety of factors, Yanthan stated that he believes it will be a game changer this time, improving the state’s economy and creating job opportunities.
He urged department officials to do everything possible to motivate farmers and bridge the gap between farmers and implementing agencies. He stated that the state government will provide policy support in the form of price and regulatory legislation. The advisor also advised the mission’s implementing partners to have faith in the farmers in order to bring the mission forward.
