C-Edge College held its 9th Commencement Day on 11th May 2023 at the GK Auditorium with Dr Akum Longchari, Publisher, The Morung Express as its Commencement Speaker.

Dr Akum Longchari in his commencement speech applauded the faculty and staff of C-Edge College, led by its Principal, for its commitment to aspire and pursue a vision for social transformation and its dedication to imparting quality education.

Dr Longchari also mentioned about the tragic incident and situation in Manipur that had reminded that violence is brutal, systematic, numbing, and blind, and has the potential to impact the future. He commented on why it is important to speak of it at the Commencement Day and what it mean for the Graduating Class who are stepping into the world outside academia, and for institutes like C-Edge who are committed to social transformation, and all who aspire to live in dignity and peace.

He further stressed on how the crisis in Manipur must “provoke us to a process of self-reflection, self-questioning, self-defining and self-transformation to enable an examined and purposeful life,” adding that this “self-examination catalyses us and has the power to bring us together in creating a new dignified and harmonious humanizing culture.”

In conclusion, Dr Longchari invited the Graduating Class of 2023 to ‘Aspire Living in Radical Hope’ by releasing the critical imagination and harnessing the matrix of human solidarity for the new to be born “so that we can become fully human.”

He ended his speech by urging the Class of 2023 to boldly dream dreams and to aspire to be different and to make a difference and shared with the audience on the lines from the poem by Liam Mac Uistin “We saw a Vision.”
