Mokokchung, 28 May (MTNews): The Konyak Union Tizit Unit has declared ‘War Against Drugs’ within Tizit jurisdiction with immediate effect. This declaration, it said, was in the larger interest of all concerned as per the directive of the apex Konyak Union.
It may be mentioned here that a student leader from Tizit under Mon district, who was serving as chairman of the Tizit Area Students Union’s (TASU) Action Committee, was reportedly hacked to death Thursday allegedly by a drug peddler during a surprise check carried out by TASU against drug peddlers.
As per a statement circulated by the Media Cell of KU Tizit Unit, various steps will be taken as part of the ‘War Against Drugs’ including frisking any suspected persons/areas/locations and “direct operation at the residence of peddlers.”
It was also stated that uniformed personnel found indulging “shall be terminated with proper consultation with the concerned authority” and that “Any national workers found shall be reported to the higher authority for direct discharge.”
