Mokokchung, 7 June (MTNews): The Nagaland Foothills Road Construction Committee (NFHRCC) has emphasized the significance of the Khelma-Tizit Historic Connectivity Road and urged the Government of Nagaland to implement the Assembly resolution passed on 22 September 2022. The resolution focused on undertaking the foothills road project under the North Eastern Council (NEC) in recognition of its importance and the dire conditions faced by the Naga public.

In a press release, the NFHRCC highlighted the crucial role of the Legislative Assembly in a democratic government, stating that the decision made in the Legislative Assembly is final and binding and the same cannot be washed away.

The NFHRCC commended the wisdom and concern of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and expressed their support for his re-election as the Chief Minister of Nagaland for the fifth time. They acknowledged the Chief Minister’s leadership in passing the hallowed Assembly resolution, which saw the unanimous support of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

The NFHRCC expressed their satisfaction with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s re-election, seeing it as a testament to his strong leadership qualities. They subsequently issued a “humble appeal” to the Government of Nagaland, specifically Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, as well as Deputy Chief Ministers Y Patton and TR Zeliang, urging them to “kindly put into action the Nagaland Assembly Resolution dated 22-09-2022” by initiating the foothills road project under the NEC during the upcoming financial year of 2023-2024.

The NFHRCC cautioned that failing to act on the resolution would be viewed as a “betrayal of the Naga people.”
