Mokokchung, 11 June (MTNews): The fourth Yajen Aier Award and Asetkong Kaketshir Telongjem Mungdang (AKTM) Excellency Award ceremony for meritorious students was held at Asetkong Mungdang Senden Salang, Kubolong, Mokokchung on 10 June, organized by the Asetkong Mungdang under the theme ‘Reinvigorating Teaching and Learning’.

This year, six students and one teacher were presented with the awards. The recipients of the Yajen Aier Award 2023 are NBSE/HSSLC (Science) Top 9 Ochien of St John Higher Secondary Residential School, Dimapur; NBSE/HSLC (Science) Top 10 Tiatetla Jamir of Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung; Lensen Ozukum, Ao Subject Topper HSLC and Meyimangyang, Ao subject teacher both from Clark Memorial Higher Secondary School (CMHSS).
Awards were also presented to the best performing students among the schools within Asetkong range during the year 2022 where Rongnen Jamir of class 8, Katina of class 9 and Jongpongmoa of class 10 all from CMHSS, Impur were awarded.
Further, awards were also given to CMHSS Impur, GHS Yisemyong, GHS Kobulong and GHS Longjang in recognition of their excellent performance in producing 100 percent HSLC examination results among the high schools in Asetkong range.
The recipients of the AKTM Excellency Award were NBSE/HSSLC (Science) Top 9 Ochien of St John Higher Secondary Residential School, Dimapur and NBSE/HSLC (Science) Top 10 Tiatetla Jamir of Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Er Pangjungkala SDO PWD (NH) Mokokchung Division said that behind every successful student, there are parents, teachers, friends and people surrounding them who have motivated and supported the students while congratulating the students for bringing laurels to Asetkong.
She also acknowledged the efforts of Yajen Aier Award Committee and AKTM for working tirelessly for the uplift of the students, particularly in education, to motivate them to reach greater heights in their academic careers.
S Bendang Longkumer, former president, Asetkong Mungdang praised the schools’ authorities and Village Councils of Sungratsu and Mopungchuket for their sincere efforts and productive involvement to uplift the students in the schools.
In this regard, he challenged the rest of the villages in Asetkong range to emulate the positive trend to uplift the schools in their respective villages and make schools in Asetkong a model of academic excellence.
He further motivated the students not to lose sight of their goals as people will be looking up to them as role models.
He also appealed to the teachers to be more dedicated in their noble profession in molding the students to become assets for the society.
