Chumoukedima, 29 June (MTNews): The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Chumoukedima District Branch, was inaugurated today at the DC Chumoukedima Office Complex. The Chairman of the Nagaland State Branch, IRCS, Mrs Abeni TCK Lotha, officially launched the branch in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner of Chumoukedima and the General Secretary of the Nagaland State Branch.
The program was chaired by Mr Vichutuolie Mere, Chairman of the Chumoukedima District Branch IRCS, and began with a prayer by Mr Keviyato Whiso, a member of the Managing Committee. The welcome address was delivered by Mr Vekuto Swu, the Treasurer of the Chumoukedima District Branch IRCS.
Mr Abhinav Shivam, IAS, the Deputy Commissioner of Chumoukedima and President of the Chumoukedima District Branch IRCS, gave a speech highlighting the need and importance of the Red Cross in the society and its crucial role. The Youth Red Cross from Patkai Christian College presented a special number.
The keynote address was delivered by Mrs Akhale V Khamo, the General Secretary of the Nagaland State Branch IRCS. She shared information about the various activities of the Red Cross in different districts of Nagaland and emphasized that the funding for the Red Cross is solely reliant on donations.
Mrs Abeni TCK Lotha, the Chairwoman of the Nagaland State Branch IRCS, expressed her happiness at the formation of the Chumoukedima District Branch and extended her gratitude to the DC of Chumoukedima for providing a spacious office for the branch. She emphasized the importance of humanitarian work in today’s world and shed light on the functioning of the Red Cross Society.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks from Mr Mhiesitsolie Khate, the Honorary Secretary of the Chumoukedima Branch IRCS, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the successful launch of the district branch.
During the ceremony, the Nagaland State Branch generously donated a significant amount of relief materials to support the newly launched district branch.
The Chumoukedima District Branch of IRCS meanwhile has sought the cooperation and assistance of the public as it endeavors to bring aid to society. With its motto, “Through Humanity to Peace,” the district branch is committed to providing support and assistance to those in need.
The Newly Elected team of the Chumoukedima District Branch comprises of Deputy Commissioner Chumoukedima as President, Chief Medical Officer Chumoukedima as Vice President, Mr Vichutuolie Mere as Chairman, Mr Kumar Naben as Vice Chairman, Mr Mhiesitsolie Khate as Honorary Secretary, Mr Vekuto Swu as Treasurer. The Branch also has a 9-member managing committee.
