Mokokchung, 13 July (MTNews): In a successful operation conducted by Mokokchung Police on the evening of 11 July, four individuals were apprehended and a significant quantity of drugs was seized. Led by Additional Superintendent of Police Mokokchung, law enforcement officers conducted thorough frisking and checking at Arkong Ward, resulting in the arrest of the suspects.
During the operation, Imsulemba Pongen (24 years old), a resident of Penli Ward, Mokokchung was intercepted by the police at around 10:45 PM. A search of his person revealed the discovery of two empty plastic containers. Pongen confessed that his friend Tuto Ao (28 years old), a resident of Arkong Ward, had instructed him to bring empty vials if he wished to purchase Brown Sugar, a type of illicit drug.
Based on this information, the authorities proceeded to search Tuto Ao’s residence. During the search, they recovered a plastic soap container containing suspected Brown Sugar (Sun Flower). Subsequently, two additional suspects, Tekayapang Kichu (33 years old), a resident of Yimyu Ward, and Rongsenlemba (49 years old) were also apprehended. Notably, Rongsenlemba holds the position of Head Accountant (HA) in DEF Mon.
Upon the arrest of Kichu and Rongsenlemba, the police recovered additional quantities of suspected Brown Sugar from their possession. The total weight of the seized drugs, identified as Brown Sugar (Sun Flower), amounted to approximately 20 grams.
In response to this significant development, a case has been registered, and an ongoing investigation is underway to uncover further details regarding the drug peddling operation.

It may be recalled that this is the sixth time that Mokokchung Police has busted and arrested drug peddlers in Mokokchung since May of this year. The arrests were made on 5 May, 8 May, 12 June, 19 June, and most recently on 1 July. A total of 13 individuals were arrested prior to the arrests made on 11 July.
