After 10 weeks of intense matchups, the 3rd Season of the Mokokchung Friday League for players aged 35+ came to a conclusion today at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex. In an impressive display of skill and determination, Revenant FC emerged as champions for the third consecutive term, successfully defending their title.

The Mokokchung Friday League, a non-affiliated tournament played between amateur football enthusiasts as well as professionals above the age of 25 years, aims to promote recreational football and foster friendships among participants. Notably, this unique league is organized entirely by the players themselves.

 

During the closing ceremony, ADC Mokokchung Chumlamo Humtsoe expressed his gratitude towards the league’s organizers, emphasizing the positive impact the Mokokchung Friday League has on inspiring the youth of the area and beyond. Humtsoe further hoped that the league would motivate the younger generation to pursue sports and games as a career, thereby strengthening the communities through sports.

 

In a closely contested competition, six teams vied for the title in the 3rd Season. The teams included Revenant FC, New Ecclesia, Senso FC, Wasang FC, Terokroker FC, and Trebuchet FC, each showcasing their skills and determination throughout the season.

 

Ultimately, Revenant FC proved their dominance once again by clinching the title for the third consecutive time. New Ecclesia FC secured the runners-up position, narrowly ahead of Trebuchet FC with their ranking determined by goal difference.

 

In the final match of the season, Terokroker FC put up a valiant fight against Revenant FC, resulting in a hard-fought 1-1 draw. However, the result did not affect Revenant FC’s position at the top of the points table, solidifying their claim as champions for the third time in a row.

 

Individual accolades were also awarded during the tournament, recognizing outstanding performances. Akangmeren of Wasang FC was honored as the Oldest Player, at 56 years of age, showcasing that age is no barrier to enjoying the beautiful game. Terokroker FC received the Fair Play Award, highlighting their commitment to sportsmanship throughout the season.

 

Takosangba of Trebuchet FC was celebrated as the Best Defender, while Talilepba of Revenant FC was named the Best Goalkeeper. Moakaba of Revenant FC claimed the Highest Goal Scorer title with an impressive tally of 14 goals. The Man of the Tournament award was presented to Moatemsu of New Ecclesia, recognizing his exceptional performances throughout the season.
