When asked whether the Nagaland government would act as a mediator in bringing peace to the ethnic strife-hit state of Manipur, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio preferred to abstain from commenting directly. He cited the statement made by Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, who had previously requested the European Union and the states from the Northeast region not to intervene in the internal affairs of another state.

Regarding the recent arrests of a police officer and five others for illegal transportation of arms and ammunition, Chief Minister Rio stated that the law would follow its due course. He expressed confidence in the ongoing investigation process and assured that appropriate action would be taken in accordance with the law.

On the subject of the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO) demands, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio informed the media that a tripartite meeting to discuss the matter would depend on the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Chief Minister further provided an update on the enquiry report regarding a recent rockslide incident that resulted in the tragic death of two individuals. He mentioned that the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) have proposed alternative solutions, and these proposals are currently under study. The Chief Minister expressed hope that such unfortunate incidents do not reoccur, particularly as commuters continue to take risks while traveling on the vulnerable stretch of National Highway-29.
