Chümoukedima, 23 August (MTNews): Nagaland Governor La Ganesan emphasized the need for unified actions to eliminate crimes against women, children, and marginalized communities. He also stressed the importance of collective efforts to address issues such as poverty, hunger, and the promotion of justice and harmony within society. These remarks were made during his presence at the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Shree Shree Shiv Mandir in Tsithrongse Village, Chümoukedima.
Established in 1962, Shree Shree Shiv Mandir stands as one of the oldest religious institutions in the state. Its history recounts its construction on the spot where the sacred Shivalinga was discovered, a DIPR report said.
Governor Ganesan noted that the temple serves as a sanctuary for devotees from across the state who gather each year to celebrate Shivratri. Beyond its religious significance, the temple committee has undertaken initiatives that positively impact society. Daily charitable activities are organized, and the temple premises house a Gurukul that offers free education in Sanskrit and Vedic mantras to facilitate meaningful worship. The Governor commended the dedication of countless individuals who contributed to organizing this grand celebration.
He urged attendees to use the celebration as an opportunity to combat social, economic, and political challenges. Governor Ganesan called for joint efforts to eliminate crimes against vulnerable populations, address poverty and hunger, and work toward justice and harmony in society. He encouraged seeking wisdom from Lord Shiva and extended his best wishes to Shree Shree Shiv Mandir and its committee.
The event included the inauguration of the renovated Shiv Mandir and the unveiling of SABANANP, a construction undertaken by Chandu Agarwal and family in memory of their parents. The program featured a Sanskrit welcome song by Gurukul children, a presentation on the heritage history of Shiv Mandir by Devindra Rana, a Gorkha dance performance by the Singrijan – Khopanala Youth Association, and an expression of gratitude by Tezu Pradhan, GB of Singrijan Village. Short speeches were delivered by T. Sangtam, the Head GB of Tsithrongse Village, as well as other dignitaries.
