Dimapur, 29 August (MTNews): A team from Project Constitutional Justice (PCJ) recently investigated the deteriorating road conditions within Kushiabill Village, Dimapur. Led by John Mech Kachari, a prominent local community member and outreach coordinator of the organization, the team scrutinized the condition of the road that traverses through the village, highlighting its blatant neglect and underscoring an evident violation of the Fundamental Rights of local residents.

“Commencing their assessment from Darogajan Tinali, an entry point to Kushiabill Village, the PCJ team meticulously documented their journey as they navigated through the notorious roadways, providing an intricate account of the obstacles faced by residents and travelers,” the PCJ said in a press release.

Of particular concern was the whole passage adjacent to the Government School, PCJ said. “The entire stretch of this road was found to be in a deplorable state, displaying evident signs of longstanding neglect and insufficient maintenance. This critical infrastructure gap has prompted a growing chorus of criticism against the government’s apparent dereliction of duty,” it added.

PCJ said the Kushiabill road’s lack of proper construction and upkeep underscores a breach of the Fundamental Rights enshrined in Articles 19 and 21 of the Constitution of India. “The right to freedom of movement and the right to life with dignity are at stake, not only for the residents of Kushiabill but also for travelers who rely on this road,” PCJ claimed, saying this situation raises questions about the state’s responsibility to provide safe and adequate transportation infrastructure.

PCJ said the investigation provides compelling evidence to substantiate the claims of neglect and infringement of Constitutional Rights.

In light of these findings, the PCJ team urged the government to take immediate action to rectify the dilapidated state of the Kushiabill road.

“This not only serves the interests of the local populace but also upholds the government’s responsibility to honor the Fundamental Rights guaranteed to all citizens,” PCJ maintained.
