Dimapur, 2 September (MTNews): Nagaland Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Paiwang Konyak, reiterated that strict actions will be initiated against government doctors involved in private practice during a review meeting held today, 2 September at the District Hospital Dimapur.

The Minister reportedly conducted a review visit to the hospital, where he met with the Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendent, DC Dimapur, and the doctors and staff of the District Hospital Dimapur. He also met with the officer in charge of vector borne diseases and discussed the rising cases of dengue.

 

During his visit, the Minister also inspected the morgue, OPDs, blood banks, dialysis unit, and various other facilities. He noted that Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, and laparoscopic machines are urgently required in the hospital. Konyak further visited constructions sites and areas requiring immediate attention at the District Hospital.

 

Furthermore, it was reported that there is a plan to transform the Dimapur District Hospital into a referral hospital for all other hospitals. The Minister also hinted at a significant reshuffle in the directorate soon, which may involve an exchange of staff. On shortage of manpower in the hospital, Konyak assured that enough manpower would be installed at the hospital as soon as the ongoing rationalization of doctors and Medical Officers is completed.

 

In the meantime, with the inauguration of Nagaland’s Medical College, he emphasized the need for a substantial number of Assistant Professors and specialists. He shared that some doctors would be sent for specialization courses.
