Kohima, 12 September (MTNews): MLA Naiba Konyak raised questions regarding landowners’ rights for the appointment of Grade-IV staff during the second day of the monsoon session of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. He inquired about the guidelines for appointing Grade-IV staff for landowners, particularly after their retirement from service, and expressed concerns about appointing Grade-IV staff in district headquarters. Additionally, he sought information regarding any government notifications allowing the appointment of other candidates to positions vacated by landowners.
In response to these queries, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio explained that, based on cabinet approval granted on 13 December 2017, the Land Revenue Department issued a notification on 5 March 2018.
As of 26 September 2017, all direct recruitment vacancies for Grade-IV positions in district offices of the department must be filled exclusively by the respective indigenous inhabitants of the district.
He further clarified that in the event a landowner appointed to such a position retires or vacates it, the vacancy will be advertised openly, in adherence to existing government policies, to provide equal opportunities to all applicants.
