okokchung, February 18 (MTNews): The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1999, approved the idea to celebrate International Mother Language Day and it has been observed throughout the world since 2000. This year, the day is observed under the theme, “Using Technology for Multilingual Learning: Challenges and Opportunities.”
In Mokokchung, the day will be observed by Ao Kaketshir Mungdang with Padma Shri Awardee, T Senka Ao, as the main speaker, at AKM Conference Hall, beginning 1:00 PM. The day will also mark the launch of “AKM Decade of Mother Language” and the declaration of results of “Aor Kilung Oset Jaya” competition. Another event will also be held at Mokokchung Town Baptist Church to mark the significance of the day, jointly organized by ABAM Literature Ministry and ABAM Youth Ministry from 4:00 PM.
The Dimapur Watsü Telongjem and Dimapur Ao Lanur Telongjem will also be jointly organizing an event to mark the day at DABA Duncan. Meanwhile, Kohima Ao Baptist Church will also be hosting an event to mark the day, jointly organized by the Jemtimenba Mollier Foundation and KABA CEM.
