The National Games 2023, a grand sporting spectacle akin to the Olympics, is in full swing across five Goan cities, namely Mapusa, Margao, Panjim, Ponda, and Vasco. Featuring athletes from 28 states, eight Union Territories, and the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB), the 37th edition of the National Games is set to culminate on November 9. This marks a historic occasion as Goa plays host to the National Games for the very first time.
In a moment of pride, Nagaland has clinched its inaugural medal at the National Games. The bronze medal was secured in the women’s Pencak Silat team event, competing in the Women’s Regu category. The triumphant athletes who made this feat possible are Liike Kibami, Hinokali, and Avikali V. Sheqi.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to extend his hearty congratulations for this remarkable achievement. His tweet read, “Congratulations to Nagaland women’s Pencak Silat team for winning Bronze Medal in the Women’s Regu category. Ms. Liike Kibami, Ms. Hinokali & Ms. Avikali V. Sheqi represented the State very well. I wish them more success.”
Meanwhile, Maharashtra has firmly established its dominance on the medal tally, leading with a remarkable 78 medals, including 37 gold, 19 silver, and 22 bronze.
