Changki, 29 November (MTNews): Observing that the villages under his constituency seemed unaware of various government schemes, MLA & Advisor Temjenmenba stressed the importance of the Village Integrated Cooperative Society (VICS). VICS falls under the Union Ministry of Cooperation, headed by Home Minister Amit Shah. The advisor said this during the one-day seminar held on various governmental programs for the villages under the 29 Jangpetkong AC at Orija Salang, Changki, on Wednesday, November 29.

The seminar, he said, was a means to sensitize the villages under the constituency about different government schemes for the people.

Highlighting the importance of the program, Temjenmenba strongly appealed to each village under the constituency to set up a Village Integrated Cooperative Society (VICS). This, he emphasized, would enable the village to avail different developmental schemes through the society. He pointed out that the “traditional practice of only the MLA or the Minister bringing development is now in the past.”

In modern times, developmental activities call for active involvement from everyone, and setting up the VICS would greatly facilitate the village in availing various governmental schemes for development, he said. He stressed that collective involvement is the best means to bring about development.

In addition, Temjenmenba, the local NDPP MLA from the 29 Jangpetkong AC, categorically stated and urged NDPP party leaders present at the program to understand that the LADP fund is “not a party fund.” He emphasized that the LADP fund should be used for developmental works only, and the villages should demonstrate visible developmental works funded by the LADP.

Temjenmenba reminded everyone of his election campaign pledge to serve the people on ‘mission mode’ and asserted that there would be no compromise when it comes to fulfilling that pledge in developing the constituency. He added, “This is just the beginning, and it will continue. Today we are just igniting a small fire, and it will grow bigger; therefore, we need the involvement of everyone in our mission to develop our constituency,” the Advisor added.

Meanwhile, the resource persons for the day included Joint Registrar of Nagaland Cooperative Society Bendang Yaden, who spoke on the topic “Introduction to Village Integrated Cooperative Society”; Senior Dental Surgeon (IMDH, Mokokchung) Dr Taliwaba, who spoke on the topic “Introduction to CM Health Insurance Scheme”; and OSD to MLA & Advisor Transport and Technical Education, Zulutemjen Ozukum, who spoke on the topic “Introduction to CM Corpus Fund & CMMFI.”
