Mokokchung, February 23 (MTNews): In commemoration of 75 years of India’s independence, NSACS, Mokokchung District, under the aegis of NACO, organized an awareness program at Jubilee Memorial College, Mokokchung today.

The awareness program was based on HIV, TB and blood donation. The resource persons for the day were Makshi, DPO, DAPCU; Tiayula, District Programme Manager for OVC (Orphan and Vulnerable Children); Imcharen, Senior Treatment Supervisor; and Nungsangwati, Consultant, District Tobacco Control Cell, Mokokchung.

Makshi spoke on the importance of blood donation, how to donate, health benefits of donation, who can donate blood and various other topics related to blood donation. Awareness on HIV/AIDS: Basic facts about HIV, routes of transmission, window period, prevention and treatment was given by Tiayula.

A talk on prevention of TB and the benefits of Nikshay Poshan Yojana, a government scheme focused on the prevention of TB, was presented by Imcharen. Smoke Free District Headquarters Campaign Awareness of tobacco use and its ill effects was also shared by Nungsangwati.

Meanwhile, Makshi, DPO, DAPCU, also highlighted on an online video making and poster making competition for college students on the theme HIV, TB and Blood Donation where all students can participate.Interested students can submit their entries before March 7, 2022 at NSACS office, Mokokchung.
