Kisama, 3 December (MTNews): The third day of the cultural extravaganza at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, was marked by vibrant cultural performances from different tribes on 3 December. Lt. Gen PC Nair, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, graced the morning session as the chief guest, alongside Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker, Sharingain Longkumer, and Advisor Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan, serving as the Host and Co-Host, respectively.
In his address, Lt. Gen PC Nair commended the vitality of Nagaland’s traditions, symbolized by the rhythmic beats of drums and resounding cheers. He expressed the Assam Rifles’ commitment to maintaining peace and prosperity in Nagaland. Lt. Gen PC Nair highlighted various initiatives, including a noble project focusing on training 32 students from remote areas for national-level competitive exams in Medical and Engineering.
The cultural fiesta featured traditional dances and songs by cultural troupes representing Angami, Chang, Garo, Ao, Tikhir, Chakhesang, Kuki, Konyak, and Khiamniungan tribes. The event began with a warm traditional welcome for the guests, accompanied by howling, and a traditional blessing by Tribal Guests, Vilazosie Punyü, the Head GB of Khonoma Village.
The afternoon session witnessed the presence of the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu as the Chief Guest and Minister of Public Health Engineering & Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi as the Host and Advisor Printing & Stationery, Kropol Vitsu as the Co-Host.
AP Legislative Assembly Speaker, Passang D Sona, General Manager North Frontier Railways, Dr. Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, Northeast Frontier Railway, DRM Prem Ranjan Kumar, Alexandro, Capt. Raghu from Adani Group and Baichung Bhutia were the honoured guests.
The session featured cultural songs and dances performed by the following cultural troupes: Lotha, Phom, Pochury, Rengma, Sangtam, Sumi, Kachari, Yimkhiung and Zeliang.

AP CM visits Naga Chef stall
Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu graced the Naga Chef stall at the Naga Heritage Village Kisama on 3 December 2023. Alongside Minister Jacob Zhimomi, Advisor Hekani Jakhalu, and other esteemed dignitaries, he immersed himself in the rich flavors of indigenous Naga cuisines during the visitm a DIPR report said.
Expressing gratitude, Advisor to Chief Minister Nagaland, Abu Metha, conveyed appreciation to Naga Chef founders Alezo Kense and Kevitsu Doze. He underscored the collective aspiration for Naga cuisine, music, and culture to serve as global ambassadors, steering away from associations with guns and violence. Metha extended thanks to Chief Minister Khandu for his valuable support and presence at the event.
Naga Chef, a trailblazing culinary competition in Nagaland, aspires to elevate awareness and admiration for the distinctive indigenous cuisine of Nagaland. It serves as a platform for Naga chefs to exhibit their culinary expertise and showcase the diverse spectrum of Naga culinary delights to the world.
The competition, intricately designed with multiple rounds, endeavors to safeguard age-old Naga recipes while introducing the world to the soul-enriching wonders of local cuisine. Contestants will be evaluated based on cooking proficiency, creativity, knowledge of local cuisine, passion for food, ability to perform under pressure, and teamwork. The eagerly anticipated results are slated to be announced on December 9, 2023.
