Longkhim, 16 December (MTNews): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, during his address on Saturday, December 16, highlighted the state’s impressive literacy rate, surpassing the national average at 80%. However, he acknowledged the challenges faced by Mon district in the ENPO area, having the lowest percentage, and assured dedicated efforts to uplift Tuensang district and bring Mon district in line with ‘state-level standards’ across various sectors. These assurances were conveyed at the United Sangtam Students Conference (USSC) 75th Anniversary celebration held in Longkhim, themed “Honor the Past, Ignite the Future.”

In drawing comparisons between government and private schools, Rio emphasized the need for collective responsibility. He urged not only the concerned departments and teachers but also tribal hohos, village councils, village leaders, and student leaders to actively contribute to improving educational outcomes.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Rio commended the monumental achievement of the 75th Anniversary and paid tribute to the pioneers and present leaders. Recognizing their visionary commitment to education as the key to a better future, he underscored the sacrifices and hardships endured in establishing USSC, emphasizing the Sangtam tribe’s significant role in various activities within the ENPO area.

Rio encouraged reflection on the past and present during such celebratory anniversaries, emphasizing the need for a renewed dedication to values of brotherhood, unity, and peaceful coexistence. He further urged the transformation of Nagas, historically known as brave warriors and headhunters, into peace warriors aligned with Christian principles.

Highlighting the importance of quality education, the Chief Minister encouraged the student community, emphasizing the significance of discipline and hard work in achieving personal goals.

As part of the celebration, Chief Minister Rio unveiled a monolith and unfurled the USSC flag, while the event featured captivating folk dance performances by male and female troupes from Sungrep, Chungtor, and Tsadang villages.

75th Anniversary United Sangtam Students Conference inaugurated

Longkhim, 16 December (MTNews): The opening ceremony of the 75th Anniversary United Sangtam Students Conference took place at the public ground in Longkhim, marked by the theme ‘Honor the Past, Ignite the Future.’ The event was graced by the presence of H Sethrongkyu Sangtam, Advisor for Information Technology & Communication, Economic & Statistics, and Evaluation, who served as the honored guest on December 15, 2023.

Addressing the student community, Advisor Sethrongkyu emphasized that today’s students are the leaders of tomorrow. He urged the students to approach their careers with sincerity and dedication, highlighting that success in life comes through hard work and sacrifice in pursuit of goals.

The ceremony began with a moment of reflection for departed leaders, led by Aprie, Secretary Women, USBLA. The Advisor released the Anniversary Souvenir, and a warm welcome address was delivered by T Kirithong Sangtam, Co Convenor of the Planning Committee. Short speeches were given by the Head GB of Longkhim, the President of PHSNS, and John Tsulise, DC, Kiphire, and Former President USSC.

The program was chaired by the USSC Office Bearers, marking the beginning of the 75th Anniversary United Sangtam Students Conference.
