Phek, 9 January (MTNews): MLA and Leader of the NPF Legislature Party Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu emphasized today that culture extends beyond traditional attire, songs, and dances. In his address at the 33rd Mütsalemi Cultural Day on 9 January, held under the theme “Culture is your identity” in Mütsale village, Phek district, Azo asserted that culture encompasses daily habits, lifestyles, and “our approach to the world around us.”
Expressing concern about the erosion of Naga culture, Azo highlighted values such as being God-fearing, honesty, and hardworking, which he believes has been lost over time. He pointed to the recently concluded election as evidence of hypocrisy among the Nagas, urging acknowledgment of mistakes, repentance, and corrective actions to avert a bleak future.
Azo urged the Nagas to draw inspiration from their Mizo counterparts and emphasized the need for introspection. He stressed the importance of living a genuine Christian life, prioritizing God in all endeavors, and advocating for rights that must be preserved for future generations.
Azo lamented the prevalence of dishonesty, betrayal, and materialism among the Nagas, stating that a significant portion has become solely focused on monetary gains, neglecting the welfare of the community.
