Mokokchung, March 4 (MTNews): Day 5 of the 6th Master Shield Trophy 2022 organized by the Mokokchung District T20 Cricket Federation (MDT20CF) at Assam Rifles Ground, Mokokchung, witnessed semifinal play-offs between Skylark Cricket Club and Sport Fit Cricket Club, and Trebuchet Cricket Club versus Rangers XI Cricket Club.
Skylark CC and Sport Fit CC played the first match of the day where Sport Fit won the toss and elected to bat first. Sport Fit set a total of 114 runs losing 7 wickets in 20 overs with contribution of 49 runs from Chonben and 25 runs from Nchumbemo Kikon. Meanwhile, Manen collected 2 crucial wickets for the Skylark side during the first inning.
In reply, a half century knock of 64 runs by Talikaba and 28 runs byAloto helped in the run chase for the Skylark side. Skylark ended their inning with 118 runs losing just 2 wickets in 20 overs. Sport Fit’s John Shitripicked 2 wickets. Skylark’s Talikaba was declared Man of the Match as Skylark CC won the match by 8 Wickets.
The second match of the day witnessed Trebuchet CC go up against Rangers XI CC. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Mandal, Anoksangba and Nripen contributed 22, 17 and17 runs respectively for the Trebuchet side as their inning ended with a total of 116 runs losing 9 wickets in 20 overs. Meanwhile, Rangers trio of Saurav, Bideshi and Sanjay pressured the game throughout the inning as they scalped 2 wickets each.
Rangers’ Oppender and Vishal led the run chase posting 34 and 26 runs respectively, but their team could not keep the momentum going and were eventually bundled out in 15.5 overs with 97 runs on the board. Chubaodang and Ajay’s collection of 4 and 3 wickets for the Trebuchet side proved vital as Trebuchet won the match by 19 runs and Chubaodang was declared Man of the Match from Trebuchet for his collection of 4 wickets in 4 overs giving away just 13 runs.
