‘AKM will raise voice until justice is delivered’
Mokokchung, March 4 (MTNews): In solidarity with the victims of Oting incident, the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) visited Mon district on March 02, 2022, and met the stakeholders there.
“The entourage was led by the AKM President where the team met the Oting Village Council and paid homage to the late brothers, the fallen victims of December 04, 2021, in the hands of Indian Security Forces,” AKM said in a press release.
During an interaction with the Oting Village Council members, the AKM announced a resolute statement that “the innocent blood soaked in the land is still fresh” and affirmed that the AKM will raise its voice until justice is delivered.
Stating that AKM will always continue to stand with the Konyak brothers and Nagas as a whole, they asserted, “We are being treated like domesticated animals, slaughtered under the pretense of AFSPA. AKM is always vocal against the enforcement of AFSPA and will stand for the removal of AFSPA from our land until the end.”
AKM also urged that all Naga people come forward for “a common front to pressure the Government of India to remove AFSPA from our land.”
The Oting council also expressed their gratitude to all the organizations, churches, civil societies and NGOs for visiting Oting in the hour of their sorrow in solidarity with them. “Through this incident, we have realized the Nagas and various communities care for us. The act of sharing our sorrow by various communities both here and abroad was overwhelming,” they said. “The black flags we raise against the killing of innocent people will be pulled down only when justice is delivered,” they reaffirmed their stand.
Later, in a meeting with Konyak Students’ Union (KSU), the AKM expressed that the Oting incident reflects the very true inhuman treatment rendered by the security forces to the Naga people.
“AKM believe that if India claims to be the largest democracy in the world, then they should remove the draconian Act (AFSPA) from the entire North East which is not relevant in this modern world,” AKM President, Nungdokyanger Ao, and General Secretary, Nekmi Longkumer, said in the statement.
“AKM and KSU further appeal to the Naga family to unite as one to fight against atrocities inflicted by the Indian security forces and to repeal AFSPA which is against the United Nations- Universal Declaration of Human Rights,” the statement said.
