The Mokokchung Police has suspended the two police personnel who were allegedly involved in the harassment of a minor girl and the assault on her father on July 24 and 25, 2024. The officers were in an inebriated state during the incidents, the Additional Superintendent of Police and Public Relations Officer, Mokokchung said in a press statement.
It further noted that a thorough investigation will be conducted, and appropriate punishment will be meted out to the delinquent personnel based on the gravity of the offence.
“Any indiscipline or criminal act by police personnel will not be tolerated but shall face strict disciplinary action as deemed fit,” it stated.
The police further appealed to the public to report to the authorities in case of any misbehavior or harassment by police personnel, or if officers are found performing their duties while in an inebriated state.
