Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Zunheboto, Nagaland University under ATARI-Zone-VII celebrated the KVK Golden Jubilee at its campus in Lumami on 30 July.

Dr Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia, Principal Scientist & Head, highlighted the mandate and activities of KVK in India and its establishment in 1974 at Puducherry. He explained how KVK Zunheboto plays a vital role in empowering farmers and bridging the gap between research and extension services. He requested the farmers to join hands to enhance the productivity of crops and animals and become self-sufficient. He emphasized that the torch symbolizes the transfer of knowledge, enlightenment, and commitment to agricultural development.

Dr Abemo, Registrar of Nagaland University, expressed his appreciation for the KVK fraternity’s significant contributions to the development of agriculture for the farming community. He urged the farmers and KVK to collaborate to enhance the socio-economic conditions of the farmers.

To observe the Golden Jubilee, ICAR initiated a torch rally (Torch Prayan) that will culminate at the ICAR-KVK Golden Jubilee conference 2024 in New Delhi. As part of the rally, the torch received from KVK Tuensang by KVK Zunheboto, Nagaland University, was handed over to KVK Mon by Dr. Abemo, Registrar, Nagaland University.

The program ended with a vote of thanks by Dr Visakho Shunyu, Chief Technical Officer (GPB & Agronomy).
