The Governor of Nagaland has introduced updated guidelines for accessing and collecting biological resources and associated knowledge, as per Rule 18(1) of the Nagaland Biological Diversity Rules 2012. The revised rules stipulate that individuals or entities seeking access for research or commercial purposes must submit an application in Form-I, as specified in the Rules.
The application process requires a fee of Rs 100 for research purposes and Rs 1000 for commercial utilization, or as adjusted periodically. Fees must be paid via cheque or Demand Draft. However, this fee requirement is waived for recognized traditional Naga healers.
The updated guidelines specify that biological resources and associated knowledge are those covered under the Biological Diversity Act 2002. For further details or queries regarding access or collection, applicants are directed to contact the Nagaland State Biodiversity Board via email at nagalandsbb2005@yahoo.com or visit the official website at www.nsbb.nagaland.gov.in.
