The Nagaland Village Guards of Noklak Village marked their Golden Jubilee at the Noklak Village Guard Post. The event featured several notable speeches and activities celebrating the 50-year legacy of the Village Guards.

MLA P. Longon, serving as the Special Guest, highlighted the historical context of the Village Guard’s formation at Pangsha, reflecting on the initial challenges they faced. He praised the exemplary record of the Village Guards and encouraged them to continue their commendable service. During the ceremony, P. Longon also unveiled the Jubilee Monolith and launched a Souvenir, which was dedicated by Munno, the Literature and Education Secretary of the Khiamniungan Baptist Churches Association.

SDO (Civil) Noklak, Vikhoto Richa, acknowledged the Village Guards’ vital role as the backbone of the District Administration, noting the challenging circumstances under which they were formed. He commended their unwavering service to the nation and urged them to maintain their loyalty.

Commandant of NVG Tuensang, Mongoyanchu, IPS, emphasized the importance of training for the Village Guards on new criminal laws, suggesting that such training be conducted at the village level for their convenience. Asst. Commandant Noklak, Nokchem L, recognized the Village Guards as an asset rather than a liability. He highlighted their crucial role not only in fulfilling their duties but also in assisting during natural disasters. He urged them to remain vigilant and rededicate their service to the public and the government.

In their speeches, Head GB Noklak Village, Khusho, Head GB Kusong Village, Ngon, and Convenor Planning Committee, Shai, paid tribute to both the pioneers and current personnel of the Village Guards. They encouraged the personnel to continue their good work.

The event was chaired by Jeolam and Chongkoi K, with the welcome speech delivered by Hav. Maj. L. Bumeng, Post Commander of Noklak Village Guard. The Thang Students’ Union and Kusong Thsamve Hoikam presented a special song, and the program concluded with a vote of thanks by S. Panpan, Chairman of the Noklak Village Council.

In the evening, a special prayer was held for the Village Guards at Baptist Church Thang. Presentations were made to both the pioneers and current serving personnel. The Jubilee celebration also featured a harmonious performance of the Christian hymn “Rock of Ages” by the Frontier Pipe Band Nagaland Village Guard, Noklak.
