The National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP), Dimapur, held the launch of the ’60-Day Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign 2.0,’ an initiative of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, on 24th September 2024 at the DC Conference Hall, Dimapur.

The campaign was launched by the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, who released a new set of IEC materials for the initiative.

The DC also felicitated five schools, namely Government Middle School Phaipijang, Government High School Sarbura, Government Primary School Kirha, Neingulie Memorial High School, and Christian Mission School, with Tobacco-Free School Certificates for adopting the Tobacco-Free Educational Institution (ToFEI) guidelines of NTCP.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr Moa N Jamir, District Nodal Officer of NTCP Dimapur, who informed that the Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign will run for 60 days (from 24th September to 22nd November 2024) and aims to amplify social media engagement. The campaign focuses on four key strategies: raising public awareness of tobacco’s harmful effects, enhancing compliance with the Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), and promoting Tobacco-Free Villages. An NTCP activity report was presented by Imkumla Aier, Psychologist at NTCP. The program was attended by District Level Coordination Committee members and school representatives.
