The Government of India, through the Ministry of Home Affairs (North East Division), has confirmed its decision to resume tripartite talks with the United Naga Council (UNC). This development comes in response to a memorandum submitted by the UNC on September 11, 2024, calling for the continuation of dialogue on various unresolved issues.

In an official communication addressed to the Chief Secretary of the Government of Manipur, the Ministry acknowledged the receipt of a letter from the Manipur government, dated September 25, 2024 and agreed to move forward with the tripartite discussions. The Ministry has nominated AK Mishra, Advisor (North East), to represent the Ministry of Home Affairs in these upcoming talks.

The letter, signed by Rajeev Kumar, Under Secretary to the Government of India, directs the Manipur government to inform the United Naga Council of the decision and to coordinate the necessary actions to facilitate the discussions.
