The Project Constitutional Justice (PCJ), Tuensang, has taken a strong stance against the alleged sexual assault committed by Robert Kikon, a former senior pastor and founding member of Father’s House Church in Chümoukedima, Nagaland. The organization expressed its condemnation through its Dimapur & Niuland Bureau, highlighting the severity of the allegations involving minors, which it states are “a grave violation of their dignity and are a flagrant breach of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.”

In a statement, Dr Aniruddha Babar, Founder and Director of Project Constitutional Justice, emphasized the organization’s mandate: “The mandate of Project Constitutional Justice (PCJ) is to safeguard and uphold the legal and constitutional rights of the people of Nagaland. In accordance with this duty, we call for a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the allegations against Robert Kikon. We further demand the immediate registration of a First Information Report (FIR) and the prosecution of the accused in accordance with the law, ensuring that justice is both served and seen to be served in the interest of the victims and the wider community.”

John Mech, Bureau Chief Dimapur & Niuland, PCJ, expressed the urgency for vigilance among citizens: “We demand justice for victims. It is the duty of the state to make sure that the rights of citizens are protected. Moreover, the possibility of more such predators lurking undetected in our society can never be denied. We urge Nagaland citizens to be vigilant and speak up.”

Kejingkhum Yimchunger, Deputy Bureau Chief, Dimapur & Niuland, PCJ, reiterated the necessity of upholding the rule of law: “Rule of Law is supreme. We have to make sure that citizens feel safe and secure in Nagaland. The accused and other accomplices should be brought before the law and prosecuted. We demand justice on behalf of voiceless minor victims. It is after all a question of safe and secure Nagaland.”

The PCJ has called for immediate and decisive action from both the government and civil society to protect the identities and well-being of the victims. The organization has emphasized the need for robust awareness campaigns aimed at preventing future incidents of abuse and educating the public on the importance of reporting such crimes.

PCJ demanded swift prosecution of Robert Kikon and all individuals complicit in these crimes, while also urging for stronger legal reforms to enforce harsher penalties for those committing sexual offenses against minors.

The organization highlighted the urgent need for protection, psychological support, and care for survivors, stating that these measures are crucial for facilitating recovery and upholding their dignity.
