A 20-year-old male migrant from Bihar allegedly died by suicide in Mokokchung’s Arkong Ward in the New Market area on 13 October. The deceased, identified as Shyam Das, a permanent resident of Raghauli village, in Madhvuni of Bihar, had reportedly arrived in Mokokchung recently and had been employed as a salesman in a grocery store for the past month.
Eyewitnesses said the victim apparently hanged himself near the grocery store, which was discovered at around 8:00 pm.
The body has been sent to IMDH for a post-mortem. The police are investigating the case, and an official statement will be made after the post-mortem report is released, it was reported.
