ANCSU Collegiate Meet 2024 enters Day 4 Livingstone Foundational International

The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) Collegiate Meet 2024, which began on the 29th of October, has entered its fourth day, featuring some immensely invigorating events, including the first-ever Naga Wrestling Competition in an ANCSU Meet.


The evening of the 31st of October 2024, coinciding with Halloween and Diwali celebrations, proved to be electrifying as the much-anticipated ANCSU Beat Contest unfolded, with seven colleges from across Nagaland vying for one of the most prestigious titles in the state. The ANCSU Beat Contest is a biennial event conducted to encourage and promote young talent from various colleges in Nagaland. The contest was graced by Neibalie Rio, Special Officer to the Chief Minister of Nagaland. The panel of judges included Clement Imsong, vocalist of the band Lords of Rock; Yangkum Jinger, current drummer of Incipit Band; Mankon Konyak, lead guitarist of the band EXI-CHICKEN HEAD; and renowned bassist Jungshi Aier.

During the battle of the bands, the colleges performed Bon Jovi’s popular song “You Give Love a Bad Name,” along with selections of their own choice. After an exciting and mind-boggling performance by all the bands, the title of Best Band was awarded to the energetic band from Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung, while the Runners-up title was claimed by the band from Sazolie College, Kohima, which also won the Best Vocals and Best Drummer titles. Patkai Christian College, Chumoukedima, won the Best Bass Guitarist and Best Keyboardist titles, while the titles for Best Lead Guitarist and Best Rhythm Guitarist went to Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung, and Livingstone Foundation International College, Dimapur, respectively. The exhilarating event concluded with a closing performance by DJ Rhon, which left the crowd wanting more.

The third and final day of the Knowledge Hub event of the Collegiate Meet was held on the morning of the 1st of November 2024 and was graced by Johnny Ruangmei, Joint CEO of the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, Government of Nagaland. A talk on HIV and AIDS awareness was delivered during the program by Dr. Hotoka Hesso, SMO at ART Plus Centre, District Hospital, Dimapur.

Imtisangla, COFU, IDAN, also guided the audience through various facets of financial literacy. Other highlights of the program included the results of the Hackathon and prize distribution by Startup Nagaland, along with a special song by students of Immanuel College, Dimapur.
