The Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF), Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU), and Eastern Sumi Students’ Union (ESSU) have issued statements condemning the murder of late Noghuvi K Sumi, a BTh final-year student whose life was tragically taken on November 2, 2024. The victim was found dead on the roadside at Northern Angami Colony, Walford Dimapur.
In a statement, WSYF expressed “deep sorrow and outrage” over the “brutal murder” of Noghuvi. They emphasized that the “loss of this young individual has left a void in their family, community, and academic circle that can never be filled.” The youth organization condemned the murder as a “heinous act” and urged law enforcement to conduct a “swift and thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.” They assured authorities of their “full cooperation” and pledged to support the investigation efforts by mobilizing resources to aid law enforcement. WSYF highlighted the need to “restore a sense of security and trust among the youth and students’ community.”
DNSU, echoing similar sentiments, described the murder as a “gruesome” crime and condemned the “disturbing disregard for human life” it reflected. The union stated that “the brutal killing of an innocent youth has sent shockwaves across our community, leaving us with a sense of outrage and grief.” DNSU demanded that authorities “leave no stone unturned in unraveling the truth behind Noghuvi’s tragic demise,” and they appealed to the public to assist in the investigation by sharing any pertinent information. “We stand in solidarity with the bereaved family and friends of Noghuvi, and we demand accountability for this heinous crime,” DNSU stated.
ESSU also expressed “utter aghast” and condemned the “monstrous act” that took Noghuvi’s life, calling it a “threat to the social fabric of peace and love.” ESSU described the act as “inhuman” and urged all citizens and organizations to “vigorously condemn such menace” and ensure justice. “The union calls the attention of all right citizens and organizations to vigorously condemn such a menace act,” the ESSU stated, urging law enforcement to “carry out thorough investigation” and “serve justice.”
