The Ongpangkong Mungdang hosted the inaugural ‘Ongpangkong Zünket Naklu’ at the Aongza Ki, Mokokchung, to honor UPSC achievers from the Ongpangkong Range over the years. The event recognized twelve exceptional individuals, three of whom attended in person: Alemtemshi Jamir (Retd. IAS), C. Lima Imchen (Retd. IPS), and Aotula Imchen (IPS). The awards ceremony celebrated their accomplishments and aimed to inspire future generations.

Prof Lanusashi Longkumer, speaking on behalf of the Zünket Naklu Committee, delivered the introductory speech. He highlighted the event’s dual purpose: to honor the UPSC achievers and to inspire the youth from the region. Prof Longkumer expressed hope that the recognition would encourage not only civil service aspirants but also young people from diverse fields to contribute positively to the Ao community, Nagas, and beyond.

Dr Kilemsungla Aier, in her keynote address, urged the honorees to uphold justice and truth, while countering societal evils like corruption. She attributed the success of these officers to the vision and prayers of their parents and encouraged them to plant seeds of integrity for future generations.

“People look up to UPSC achievers as leaders who serve with justice and truth. It is crucial to remain steadfast in faith and righteousness to pave the way for the next generation,” Dr Aier remarked.

Alemtemshi Jamir (Retd. IAS) shared his thoughts on the deeper cultural significance of recognition. Drawing from the traditional Ao society, where exceptional individuals were honored with symbols of respect like red yarn or hornbill feathers, he emphasized how recognition inspired individuals to contribute further to society.

“In our culture, recognition inspires individuals to serve society better. This event motivates me, even in retirement, to continue contributing to our community,” Alemtemshi said.

He also stressed the importance of institutionalizing such events for future generations. “This program should not be a one-time event. It needs to be institutionalized so the tradition is maintained and achievements continue to be celebrated in the years to come,” he asserted.

Alemtemshi further expressed his commitment to serving the community with renewed vigor, even in his retirement, and encouraged the committee to ensure that such initiatives continue as a legacy for the region.

C Lima Imchen (Retd. IPS) spoke about the rarity and divine purpose of being selected for civil service roles. He noted that, out of lakhs of aspirants, only a handful are chosen, and that this calling carries a higher purpose.

“This is a calling with a higher purpose determined by God,” Lima said. He also urged parents and elders to inspire young individuals toward this path, emphasizing the intellectual potential of the community. Lima cautioned against unethical practices and urged aspirants to uphold integrity, noting that success in civil services benefits not only the individual but also the entire community.

“With proper encouragement, more individuals from our region can achieve success in civil services,” Lima added. He also praised the committee for organizing the event, which he believed would motivate others.

Aotula Imchen (IPS) praised the program’s cultural significance and thoughtful planning. Reflecting on her personal journey, she spoke about the influence of figures like Alemtemshi Jamir and C Lima Imchen, who motivated her during her UPSC preparation. She expressed concern over the lack of recent qualifiers from Nagaland in the UPSC exams but remained hopeful for future success.

“Initiatives like these inspire young minds to strive for excellence and serve society with dedication,” Aotula said. She emphasized the importance of bringing together achievers through such events and hoped that the community would offer more support to aspiring individuals.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the chairperson, Jongpongtoshi, who expressed gratitude to all participants and organizers, including the Ongpangkong Tetsür, Aongza Yimden, and volunteers. He attributed the program’s success to the collaborative effort of all involved and reiterated its significance as a platform for recognition and encouragement.

The ceremony commenced with an invocation by Rev Talijungla Longkumer, followed by a welcome speech from Ongpangkong Mungdang President, Lipokmeren Jamir. The event also featured a prayer by Rev Ponen Longchar and a rendition of the song “Yimsowar,” written by T Senka Ao and composed by Temsuyanger Jamir. The performance was delivered by Tiajungla Imchen and Among Imchen.

to be on the internet the simplest thing to be aware of.
I say to you, I certainly get annoyed while people think about worries that they
just don’t know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the whole thing
without having side effect , people can take a signal.
Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
