Mokokchung, March 30 (MTNews): A books titled “Political Participation and Political Attitude: A Study of Mokokchung District” was launched by Alemtemshi Jamir IAS (Retd), CEO, Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), Government of Nagaland on March 30, at the Fazl Ali College (FAC) conference hall.
The author of the book Dr. E. Benrithung Patton is currently an Assistant Professor in the department of political science at Fazl Ali College. He has several research paper publications in both national and international peer reviewed journals of social sciences and humanities and arts. According to the author, the book is an intensive research work done for the award of his Ph.D degree in Political Science which elucidates on the nature of political participation of voters of Mokokchung district.
Alemtemshi Jamir formally released the book, describing it as one which is in-depth and hoarded with information even including the issues of education, employment aspect, occupation, gender issues and geographical context. He also congratulated the author and shared his opinion that such books would go a long way to help bring the required changes and reforms. He hoped that the future generation of Nagas will benefit through the book.
Earlier in the program, Dr. Temjenwabang, Principal, FAC delivered the welcome note and lauded the author for his immense contributions in the field of academics in spite of the practical difficulties of managing research work along with the assigned classroom duties. Dr. Abemo, Registrar, Nagaland University, gave a review of the book and positively commented that it will serve as an important tool in educating people in the field of political sciences.
The program was chaired by Dr. Elizabeth Imti while Tiameren Jamir enthralled the gathering with a special song titled, Free. Rev. Prof. K. Dhanbir Rai, CTC, Aolijen pronounced the dedicatory prayer.
About the Author
E. BENRITHUNG PATTON joined government service on 27 th August 2002.
Dr. Patton received his Master’s (First Batch NU 1997) and Ph.D. from Nagaland University.
He has several research paper publications in both national and international peer reviewed journals of social sciences and humanities and arts.
The author has participated and presented few research papers in national and international seminars/conferences.
His study areas of interest are Comparative Studies on Local Government and Politics, Elections, Voting Behaviour, Public Policy and Administration.
The current book is an intensive research work for the award of Ph.D. in Political Participation and Political Attitude: A Study of Mokokchung District.
In 2018 the International Political Science Association [IPSA] selected his doctoral paper and he gave an oral presentation during the 25th World Congress of Political Science which was held in Brisbane, Australia from 21-25 July 2018.
He is a Member of the IPSA and Naga Scholars’ Association [NSA]. He recently published two books (2021): ‘A Study Guide on Issues in World Politics’ and ‘A Study Guide on Local Self-Government in India’.
