The NFHRCC, in collaboration with representatives from the Phom People’s Council, including the President of the Dimapur Phom Union, held a joint consultative meeting today regarding the ongoing construction of the foothills road under the SASCI project at Dimapur. The meeting focused on addressing concerns related to the construction and reaffirming previously made decisions.

After much deliberation, the representatives, in line with the decisions made by the three tribes of Ao Senden, Lotha Hoho, and Sumi Hoho on January 16, 2025, passed several resolutions regarding the project.

One key resolution reaffirmed the stance that no compensation will be paid to any individual, clan, or village regarding the Foothills Road constructions. In the event of any violation, the Council along with the committee will take stern action whomever it may.

Further resolutions addressed the contractors working on the foothills road construction. All contractors or firms that have received a work order for the construction of Foothills Road under SASCI should sign an Implementation agreement with the committee under any circumstances within the period of 3 days from the date of this publication, that is,  on or before January 23rd, 2025,failing which the particular firm will not be allowed to execute the work within the jurisdiction of  the Phom Council.

It was also resolved that in the event of non-signing of implementation agreement with the committee within the stipulated time frame (on or before January 23,2025), the Phom Council along with the Committee will press upon the concerned Department to immediately cancel the work order and to issue new work order to the deserving firms so as to survive the historic road project.

It was also made clear that the “working season is running out, therefore, in the event of any unfortunate situations occurring, the defaulting firm/Contractor will be answerable to the Naga Public”.
