The Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) has expressed “deep concern and outrage” over recent statements issued by the NSCN/GPRN (Khango-Hokato Vusshe), which targeted Aolemba Longkumer, a respected entrepreneur and prominent member of the Ao community. The allegations are tied to Longkumer’s involvement in the MSE-CDP scheme under the Ministry of MSME.

AKM questioned the faction’s motives, stating, “We question the intent behind the faction’s singling out of Mr. Longkumer, raising concerns over potential bias towards an individual and a specific community.” AKM further criticized these actions as an “intentional attempt to malign the reputation of an esteemed figure and create unwarranted unrest among the public.”

The organization highlighted what it described as a troubling “pattern of behavior” by the faction, which has “become increasingly troubling, evolving into a nuisance for the Naga society.”

AKM went on to accuse the group of actions bordering on “organized extortion,” noting that these activities pose a direct threat to entrepreneurs and businessmen who are striving to uplift the region’s economy.

Declaring its unwavering support for Longkumer, AKM stated, “We firmly stand with Mr Aolemba Longkumer, a decorated entrepreneur and a beacon of inspiration for Naga youths.” The organization warned that any further threats or harassment directed at him would be taken “very seriously” and addressed accordingly.

The statement also criticized the Government of Nagaland (GoN) for its “silence and inaction” in addressing the issue. AKM demanded immediate action, stating, “The government, as the protector of its citizens, must take decisive and immediate steps to curb the increasing activities of factions and their unwarranted interference in public and private affairs.”

AKM further issued a firm demand to the government: “We demand an assurance from the government to ensure the safety and dignity of individuals like Mr. Aolemba, who contributes meaningfully to society, and also strong and decisive action against groups and factions involved in intimidation, extortion, and harassment.”
