The Dr Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) diversion road project in Mokokchung town has been successfully completed through voluntary contributions from various individuals, businesses, and government departments. The newly blacktopped road, measuring over 500 feet in length and 12 feet in width, will be officially open to the public starting tomorrow.
The initiative, led by MMC Councilor from Lijaba Lijen Ward, Wabang Kichu, took eight days to complete. It was made possible by generous financial and material support from elected representatives, companies, and local organizations.
According to Kichu, a total of Rs 4,62,000 was raised for the project, with major contributions from Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Sharingain Longkumer, Advisor Imkongmar, KC Infra Projects Pvt Ltd, and T Mar Pongener.
Additional support came from ASTRA Works and Suppliers, Chang Baptist Lashong Mokokchung, and proceeds from the sale of empty emulsion drums. The Mechanical Department provided a road roller, while the Public Works Department (PWD) supplied a mixer machine. Jayumanen Imsong also contributed in kind.
With a total expenditure of Rs 4,58,630, the remaining balance of Rs 3,370 will be utilized for putting up road signs and direction boards.
“I want to thank our DC and Medical Superintendent for their initiatives, and all the generous donors, as well as Ako Sashi, Chairman of Majakong Ward, for being there until the end of the task assigned to us,” said Kichu.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung Thsuvisie Phoji thanked Councilor Kichu for his selfless service towards the success of the project. “He volunteered for the project and successfully completed it. All thanks to him for his selfless service,” he said.
