The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, has issued a notification directing all Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) to comply with mandatory registration requirements under the NGO Darpan portal, as per the Prevention of Money Laundering (Maintenance of Records) Amendment Rules, 2023.

The directive follows an Office Memorandum from the Planning & Transformation Department and applies to all NPOs seeking grants from the Government of India and the State Government, operating bank accounts, renewing their Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) registration, or applying for tax exemptions under Section 80-G of the Income Tax Act.

The NGO Darpan portal, maintained by NITI Aayog, has been made mandatory by Central Government ministries and departments to curb fraudulent activities.

In line with this, all NPOs and societies registered under the Societies Registration (Nagaland Third Amendment) Act, 2008, have been directed to obtain a Unique Identity Number from the portal to avoid the risk of being blacklisted or having their registration canceled for non-compliance.

Organizations have been urged to complete the registration process at the earliest to ensure uninterrupted operations.

For further details, NPOs can refer to the official notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
