The Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) has congratulated Yarenjungla Longkumer on her elevation as an Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court, calling it a “well-deserved” achievement and a “milestone of historic significance.”
In a statement, DAYO noted that Longkumer’s appointment marks a first in two aspects: she is not only the first woman from the Ao-Naga community but also the first among Naga women to attain this esteemed position. “Her unwavering commitment to justice along with her unflinching perseverance have marked her life’s journey and will continue to be an inspiration to many young people,” DAYO stated.
Describing the appointment as “not only a personal triumph but a moment of immense pride for gender emancipation based on merit for all Naga women,” the organization expressed confidence in her ability to uphold the principles of justice.
“As she embarks on this new responsibility, we hope she will set high standards for the role of law and justice in the life of citizens,” DAYO added, further wishing that she serves “with wisdom, fairness, and dignity, bringing righteousness and honor to the judiciary.”
