The Eastern Nagaland Sumi Students’ Union (ENSSU) has raised an urgent concern regarding the lack of a Science Teacher at Government High School (GHS) Sitimi Town, located in Kiphire District. In a letter addressed to the Principal Director of the Directorate of School Education, Nagaland, the union highlighted the critical need for immediate action to address the absence of a qualified Science Teacher at the school.

The letter, signed by ENSSU President Tonika G, emphasized that GHS Sitimi Town was selected for the NECTAR Lighthouse Project, a significant initiative aimed at improving the quality of education. However, despite this recognition, the school is currently without a Science Teacher, which is severely impacting students’ learning, particularly in the crucial subject of Science.

“GHS Sitimi Town is the best-performing school in the Sitimi Area, consistently producing commendable results,” the letter reads. The union stressed that maintaining this standard of excellence is vital to ensuring the students receive a quality education. “To maintain this standard and ensure students receive proper education, it is imperative that a qualified Science Teacher is appointed at the earliest,” the ENSSU further urged.

The union also pointed out that the absence of a Science Teacher is not only affecting academic performance but also hindering the overall educational development of the students. The letter concluded by calling for immediate action: “Therefore, I kindly request your esteemed office to take immediate action and appoint a Science Teacher at GHS Sitimi Town to facilitate the smooth functioning of the school and uphold the quality of education under the NECTAR Lighthouse Project.”
