The Nagaland government is set to develop a robust policy framework for the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) sector, following a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Dr. J Alam, IAS, at the Civil Secretariat, Kohima, on 20th February 2025.

The meeting brought together Administrative Heads of Departments (AHoDs), Heads of Departments (HoDs), and officers from various stakeholder departments, including Higher Education, Finance, Planning & Transformation, Law & Justice, Information Technology & Communications (IT&C), Education and SCERT, Industries & Commerce, Tourism, Art & Culture, Entrepreneurship & Skill Development, Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), and Information & Public Relations (IPR).
A key decision was to establish a Task Force on AVGC-XR, comprising all stakeholder departments, with the Department of Information & Public Relations (IPR) as the Nodal Department.
This Task Force will focus on formulating a comprehensive policy framework for the sector. Additionally, a state-level steering committee on AVGC-XR will be formed.
During the meeting, each department shared their existing contributions to the sector and outlined future plans. There was a shared sense of enthusiasm and commitment among departments to collaboratively harness the potential of AVGC-XR as a transformative industry for Nagaland.
